The Idea

The Reserve
Shishkin Reserve, Nosivka
Our family has stewarded this land in Chernihiv Oblast for over 30 years. The foxes are managed the way a forest is managed: Selectively, slowly, and with the next decade in mind. We take elder males only, at night, in the 2 to 3 winter months when the coat is at its fullest. Vixens, young foxes, and the breeding stock stay in the field.
The Making
One fox, one hat
The pelt is cleaned, tanned, and rested before it is cut, so the fur keeps its spring. We take your head size and your choice of leather, sew the hat to that order, then bring it to you in person wherever you are. Nothing else about the animal is sold.

The silver fox is rarer on the reserve, and its coat runs from charcoal to frost in a single pelt. Most are spoken for before the season ends.

Made with 428 Metal in the same winter window, by the same hands. Patrons of either house take 10% off, and 20% with the Cumulus Collar.
Patronage
By invitation, one referral a year
We can't make more hats than the reserve gives us, so we don't sell to the public. Each patron may refer 1 person per calendar year. Every hat carries a full refund if it isn't the best winter hat you've owned, repairs and relining for life, and a share that goes back into stewarding the reserve.
